What is the research project about?
Through thermodynamic modeling of the growth of soldier fly larvae inside the rearing chamber of the Bioconverter, a control algorithm will be developed to keep the rearing parameters in their optimal range in order to maximize the growth of the larvae and consequently productivity. The parameters according to which the modeling will be done are: humidity, temperature, ventilation and the geometry of the rearing chamber.
Who is the ICT supplier?
Optimad Engineering SRL based in Turin and with a local unit in Trieste is an ICT (Information Communication Technology) service provider that has already collaborated with BEF regarding the fluid dynamic study within the Bioconverter. Optimad is an engineering company specializing in the development of software for aerodynamic analysis, design and optimization. Optimad was established in 2006 as a spin-off of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Turin.

Trieste Science Park for Innovation and Start-up Tender: Test4Digitalization
ARGO: Laboratory of innovation, qualified and virtuous serving the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
Promoted by Area Science Park, it is dedicated to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the national territory active in the manufacturing and construction sectors that want, in collaboration with one or more ICT vendors, to implement and experiment with projects to demo, test and validate digital systems and technologies in real-world settings.
The initiative is funded as part of IP4FVG's activities on funds from the Sistema Argo strategic project.
