Today in the new issue of Pianeta2030, the monthly magazine of the Corriere della Sera dedicated to the environment and to the sustainability, they talk about insects.


The article is by Luca Zanini, the beautiful shots are by Luigi Avantaggiato who also portrayed our researcher Carola Mileto while feeding trout fry with insect meal-enriched feed made in BEF Biosystems.

A brief excerpt from the article follows:

«[...] Here we discuss useful flies for feeding fish and other farmed animals (larvae and insect meal), particularly soldier flies. A singular but innovative and important solution at a time in history when intensive exploitation of the seas is also accelerated by the use of fishmeal in fish farms; thus an environmentally sustainable solution. [...] And we tell you about other insects around which a new economy is developing. And even a traffic in fakes, such as those already present in the cricket meal market, which alone could reach a turnover of $3.5 billion by 2029».
