Network contract
Our model is based on a modular system of small facilities spread across the territory, connected in a network and managed remotely. A strategic choice aimed at promoting the rapid development of this new sector and valorising the potential of the agricultural system.
The business proposal of BEF Biosystems is based on six pillars:
- Breeding the Hermetia illucens fly
- Centralised breeding of flies for reproduction
- Waste procurement services
- Remote control and management of facilities and processes
- Utilisation of renewable energy sources and the possibility of using residual thermal energy from biogas/biomass or geothermal power plants
- Marketing of products obtained from bioconversion
The system elements:
The Network Contract
Our specialised technology is able to offer an element of diversification for many agricultural operators in Italy and abroad, provided that they are connected to specific enterprises in the agrifood chain.
In Italy, the development model centres around the Network Contract that Bugsfarm owners sign together with the other operators in the production chain.
It is a legal tool that enables groupings of companies to establish organised and long-term relationships of cooperation with one another.
2023-2030 goal: establishment of 100 Bugsfarms in Italy with provision of network services.
Nurseries and territorial centres
We will, locally, set up a number of Nurseries, i.e., territorial centres for insect reproduction, around which the Bugsfarm network will develop.- In Italy there are about 1,300 biogas power plants that Bugsfarms can be connected to. Most of them are found between the centre-north.
Other renewable energy sources (geothermal energy, residual thermal energy from industrial sources) may be used for the climate control of breeding modules
In particular, the development of PV energy generation in farming will enable many agricultural areas with no biogas plants to host a Bugsfarm.
On stream, the Bugsfarm network will be able to recycle over 200,000 tons of organic residues.
